About Us

To 2004 342_1_1.jpgHello, my name is John Hudson, and I want to welcome you to Skywatch7. Although this site was originally intended to be a photography collection for the weather enthusiast, over time it has evolved to encompass much more than that. Besides pursuing photography and meteorology studies as a hobby, my occupation is freelance writing. With this in mind, you will find an archive of selected articles published as web content, as well as in magazines.

The focus of my writings is primarily science and technology, but the assortment of what is available here will expand to include other categories, such as the editorials section, where you’ll see my point of view (good or bad) on current events, both local and around the globe. Here, I’ll have an opportunity to rant or rave about subjects of interest, and you’ll have a chance to do the same. The Comments link will allow praise (or reprisals) if the editorial strikes a chord for you.

I consider the humble photograph to be a moment captured in time, recorded forever by the striking of light on film (or CCD), much like a blacksmith striking a hot ingot of metal, forever changing it’s shape. Each picture is as unique and personal as the individual peering through the viewfinder, with nuances of light and shadow that will not be duplicated again, ever. It is these qualities that make photography a truly magical process.

I hope you enjoy your visit, and invite your questions or comments.
